Children’s Upward Mobility, LLC (CHUM) has been providing services in pediatric physical therapy (P.T.) in the Vancouver area since 1992. Our practice has worked with families & physicians to address the needs of their patients ranging from infancy to early adulthood, with a variety of diagnoses. Demand has encouraged us to provide Physical Therapy/CranioSacral Therapy for adults as well. Upon P.T. evaluation, the primary care physician and patient both receive a complete report. This includes information regarding benefit from treatment, prognosis, potential duration and frequency of treatment, and measurable short term and long term goals achievable. Therapeutic home programs are also provided to maximize improvement. The family is an integral part of the therapy team, helping to set therapy goals, and measure success.

Mission The mission of Children’s Upward Mobility, LLC, is to provide quality physical therapy care, education, and encouragement, to assist the patient in reaching their full potential. Using our “state of the art” manual therapy techniques we enhance a human’s quality of life by stimulating self-healing mechanisms & improving their neuro-physiological ability to access, experience, and impact their world in a successful, rewarding, and enjoyable manner! We provide information and support to patients & families, enriching the environment to assist the individual in achieving their greatest potential, and to incorporate change into their daily routine! CHUM’s approach begins with an open heart, connecting with people in mind, body and spirit … understanding where they are in their daily life and what they desire most. Approach CHUM works on a medical model. We facilitate normalized growth and maturation of the nervous system and body, to improve the patient’s abilities. Our goal is to achieve the patient’s normal age-appropriate gross and fine motor, as well as behavioral development. This includes improving balance and co-ordination, neurological function, normalizing muscle tone, strength, range, postural health, symmetry, and pain-free mobility. We address attention and focus. Our emphasis is on quality of movement and life — not standard deviations from the mean. Standardized tests are used as a guide, however, to establish progress. We have FUN in the process, allowing the individual to help direct their own activities in treatment. We help them learn, adding to their repertoire through novelty, repetition, variation, and success!
